Platinum Bake Off 2015

Posted in: Charity News,

The competition was tougher than ever for this years Platinum bake off. With 15 contestants hoping to be crowned with the title of 'Star Baker' or 'Showstopper' the baking battle commenced!

Entrants and eaters alike, helped raise over £100 benefiting The Friends of Alfie Martin who provide funds to improve the neonatal and transport facilities for critically ill newborn babies across Yorkshire.

The remaining cake being donated to Corina's cafe(link) who help the homeless and vulnerable in the Harrogate area.

Guest judge, Suzy Munro from Bettys & Taylor's made a special visit to Platinum, using her baking knowledge and skills to make the tough decision. After tasting all 15 cakes, and feeling quite squeamish from the amount of sugar consumed, the rightful winners were announced.

Steve Law, our sales director and apparent coffee & walnut cake extraordinaire was crowned star baker for his tasty treat which resembled a double D

Nicola Crebin showed off her incredible design skills by creating a masterpiece good enough to go in Betty's cafe window display, winning the showstopper category.

Great efforts from everyone this year, our next event will need to involve exercise!
