Harrogate Printing and Platinum Print have merged

We are extremely pleased to announce the merger of Harrogate Printing and Platinum Print, creating a 50-strong print business in Harrogate.

The 20 staff from Harrogate Printing have moved into Platinum's 2,230m2 premises to work alongside its 30 existing staff. The factory has been expanded by taking an adjoining unit to cope with additional prepress and finishing equipment.

The deal provides expanded access for Harrogate Printing’s customers to direct mail and large format print which has previously not been available in-house.

While there are some customers in common, the overlap is slight says David Wyvill, Chief Executive of Platinum Print. “I have known Colin Wilding, who runs Harrogate Printing, for a long time and I have a lot of respect for the business that he has built up over 33 years.

“To cope with the higher volume throughput Harrogate Printing have brought with them heavier duty folders and booklet making equipment. Harrogate Printing's Speedmaster SX has been replaced with a new Komori Lithrone S29 5 colour machine.

"The two trading names are being retained for the interim. Likewise Colin Wilding continues with the business holding a sales remit, while Philip Hall has a production remit under Platinum Managing Director, Mark Plummer.

"Despite their proximity, there were few customers served by both companies", said Wyvill. "We have been competitors, but have also helped each over in the past. It fits really well.”
